I’mMaterial examines body fluidity, gender, identity and memory with the use of graphic design, printmaking, collage, and mix media. These mediums have allowed me to deconstruct, and juxtapose the human form, taking away any trace of identity. Photographs of individuals are cut out and paste onto drypoint prints of contour line drawings. These contour line drawings, create fluid like forms that I have identified as “new entities.” I have used these “new entities” throughout my body of work to build a connection within one another. In addition, female and male genitalia are depicted within the body of work to emphasize on ideas of gender, and emphasize on how gender is interchangeable and fluid. Digital photographs are also edited to look fluid like, and are given flamboyant colors. These digital photographs present traces of human form, but also presents abstraction. I play with the ideas of gender with the use of hyper “feminine” materials and the use of my own body hair. By using these materials, I also bring emphasize on the connections we built with objects and gender. My body of work is an exploration of new identities and new forms, by the use of mix media.
